I haven't been an footy fan for a long time, but here in the heartland of AFL, you don't need to be a footy fan to know who Matthew Lloyd is. So long has he been a superstar of the game, that his name has rolled off the tongues of local news reporters far too many times to count.

Today, after 270 games for Essendon, after 926 goals, this legend has announced his retirement from the game. I wish you well in your future endeavours.
